Work-Based Learning to Portfolio student linkage

Building on the Work-Based Learning and Portfolio integration released last month, students can now launch Portfolio entry creation directly from any Work-Based Learning engagement. Selecting the new Add to Portfolio action redirects students to the Portfolio, where data from their engagement will be used to create either a Work Experience or Extracurricular entry.

Enhancement

Course Planner permissions update

To simplify administration and improve permission management, Naviance has consolidated and streamlined Course Planner permissions. The new permission structure reduces the permissions required to enable Course Planner and removes the differentiation between district and school permissions. Users will only have the appropriate, available permissions for their role based on their subscription and district or school role level.

Existing users with Course Planner permissions were automatically migrated to the appropriate new permissions, and no action is required. This migration ensured that no staff member lost previously available Course Planner permissions, but because the new permissions are more all-encompassing some users may have additional permissions in Course Planner that they didn’t have before. We recommend re-reviewing your district/school’s Course Planner permissions to ensure that the appropriate roles have the correct permissions.

Permission structure changes

The following permission sections have been removed:

  • District Course Administration

  • Course Recommendations

Permissions formerly under District Course Administration and Course Recommendations have been grouped under the Course Administration section, which includes:

  • Manage Course Catalog – Create, edit, and manage the course catalog, including access to the Course Planner-PowerSchool SIS Integration.

  • View Course Catalog – View course catalog information.

  • Manage Plans of Study & Specializations – Create, edit, manage, and publish Plans of Study, Areas, and Specializations, and access Plan of Study Data and Specialization Area Data (formerly Career Pathway Data) reports.

  • View Plans of Study & Specializations – View Plans of Study, Areas, and Specializations, and access Plan of Study Data and Specialization Area Data (formerly Career Pathway Data) reports.

  • Administer Course Planner – View and manage Course Planner configurations.

  • Recommend Students for Courses – View and manage course recommendations.

  • Export Course Planner Data – Access and export Course Planner data through Data Export (CP 2.0).

The remaining Course Planner permissions are now available in the following sections:

View Student Records

  • View Course History – Access the Student Course Data tab in the Student Folder.

  • View Course Plans – Access the Course Plans tab in the Student Folder and access to Course Demand Detail, Course Demand Detail, Course Plan Summary, and Student Course Plan Detail reports.

Edit Student Records

  • Manage Course Plans – Access Student Course Plan Manager, approve and reopen student plans, and access to Course Demand Detail, Course Demand Detail, Course Plan Summary, and Student Course Plan Detail reports.

Known issues

The following issues have been identified and will be addressed in an upcoming release:

  • When a district creates a school-level role, the Course Administration section is not currently displayed.

  • Some Course Planner reports have not yet been fully associated with the new permission structure.

Additional release notes will be provided when these fixes are available.
