Naviance CCLR Integrates with Peterson's Data

Naviance CCLR is thrilled to announce that the new college profile experience is now available to students.

In addition to the new default college profile experience, we’re excited to announce that Naviance’s college profiles will be integrated with Peterson’s Data, providing a best-in-class college exploration experience to Naviance students. Peterson's works directly with colleges and universities based in the U.S. and abroad as well as incorporating undergraduate data from The Common Dataset (CDS) to deliver robust, up to date, verified data. Through Naviance’s integration with Peterson’s, college profiles will be updated four times per year, ensuring only the latest and most robust college data is available to students as they discover their best-fit colleges.

Old Work-Based Learning sunset & data migration

With the release of our new work-based learning (WBL) module for students and staff, we had sunset our old work-based learning system but hadn’t pulled over the data from old work-based learning to the new system. For clients that had data in the old work-based learning system, we have migrated your opportunities, organizations, contacts and historical student participation from old work-based learning to the new system.

There are some fields that could not be fully brought over:

  • Opportunities published to alumni are no longer visible to alumni

    • Submit a PowerSchool Idea if you would like this functionality

  • The All other grades to View checkbox could not be brought over

    • Add Review Only publish criteria to any opportunities that students should be able to view but not apply to.

  • Certain old WBL fields have been concatenated into text boxes in new WBL, such as:

    • Location notes

    • Duration and Timing

    • Drop off/Pick up information

  • Certain older careers could not be mapped to new WBL careers

    • If careers are missing, select from ones available in new the WBL.

New work-based learning is now the default system moving forwards. If you notice data inconsistencies or missing data, reach out to PowerSchool Support. If there are features you’d like to see added, submit a PowerSchool Idea.

Success planner 2.0 task library update

We have enhanced the task statuses in Success Planner 2.0 to offer a clearer insight into the implications of activating a task. The former status of Active is now labeled as Assigned, while Inactive is designated as Not Assigned. Additionally, we have introduced a tooltip in the task library status column and during the creation or editing of a task. This tooltip states, “Tasks in a pathway won’t be assigned until a student selects that pathway.”

We're thrilled to announce our new career exploration experience is now available, by default, to both students and staff. This experience will include our redesigned career (early access available since April), pathway, cluster, and non-degree program profiles. These profiles will give students a modern, easy-to-use interface with personalized insights on how each profile aligns with their background and preferences. Students will also be able to engage with RoadTrip Nation videos and AI-generated summaries for quick access to critical information.

The latest release of Naviance Reports introduces charts and key performance indicators for 22 different reports.

Key features included:

  • Visual Insights: Utilize the Charts filter or find the chart icon next to the report names to locate reports featuring KPI’s and visualizations consistent with those previously available in Reports 2.0 and Insights. Seamlessly toggle between graphical representations and detailed data views.

  • Export Chart Options: Individual charts can be exported as PDFs, or their underlying data can be exported to Excel. Additionally, the entire charts page for each report—including all KPIs and visualizations—can be exported as a single PDF document.

  • Maximize Charts: Each chart can be expanded to full-screen, allowing you to view the complete data set on a dedicated page.

Sunset of legacy reports

As of July 31, 2025, Reports 1.0 and 2.0 have been officially sunset. The latest version, previously known as Reports 3.0, has been renamed Reports and is now accessible by going to Analytics and choosing Reports.

Legacy 1.0 Reports have been relocated to the Original Reports tab. The report names, content, and layout within this tab mirror Reports 1.0 and provide the same experience and data.

New work-based learning for students and staff tracking released and old work-based learning sunset

We have released our new student work-based learning module along with the staff functionality to track a student’s progress through an opportunity. The new student-facing functionality empowers them to explore opportunities and receive personalized recommendations. Now, staff and students can track a student’s engagement and participation hours for each opportunity. This release also includes enhancements to existing functionality for the new work-based learning, including the ability to duplicate opportunities, merge organizations or contacts, and delete instead of just inactivating. No new permissions are required. The existing staff work-based learning permissions and student optional feature will continue to work with new work-based learning.

With the release of new work-based learning, we have sunset the old work-based learning module. New work-based learning will be the default tool going forward. We are working on a tool to migrate all your data from old work-based learning to new work-based learning within the next few weeks. This data includes all your organizations, contacts, opportunities and historical student participation. During this interim period, you will not have access to your old work-based learning data. Monitor release notes for when the migration occurs. If you need access to your old work-based learning data prior to the migration, reach out to Naviance support.

New PowerBuddy chat log locations

We have added PowerBuddy for College & Career chat logs to the Student Folder for staff and now allow students to review their chat logs in Naviance Student. Chat logs in the Student Folder will be visible to staff users with the View PowerBuddy chat logs permission. From the Student folder, the chat log can be found in a new Chat Log section. Students will be able to access their chat logs using the new Chat History button that will display in the PowerBuddy window that students use to chat with PowerBuddy. Students will have nearly the same view as staff but will not know which of their chats have been flagged by PowerBuddy for inappropriate messages.

New work-based learning - enhanced participation verbiage

We’ve released an improvement to our new work-based learning opportunity creation flow. We’ve added a Participation step to the simple stepper that you go through when creating an opportunity. This will allow you, and soon enough your external partners, to specify the action you’d like students to take to indicate they are going to participate in a work-based learning opportunity. The options we’ve provided are Apply, Request, Register and Sign Up.

Try it out for yourself today in our new work-based learning module. From Naviance Succeed if you have a work-based learning permission by going to Careers and selecting Work-based Learning. From there click Try it now from the page banner.

As a reminder, the student side of new work-based learning has not been released yet so stay tuned for future releases and enhancements.

First early access release for new Work-Based Learning

We are excited to announce that the first early access release of our new Work-Based Learning module is now available. This initial release empowers district and school staff to create contacts, organizations, and opportunities. As this is an early access release, opportunities cannot be shared with students until a future update.

To access the new Work-Based Learning Early Access pages, navigate to the existing Work-Based Learning module and click Try it now in the information box at the beginning of the page. The current Work-Based Learning permissions, such as Add/Edit/Cancel/Delete Work-Based Learning and View Work-Based Learning, will continue to apply and function as usual in the new environment.

As you explore the new Work-Based Learning functionality, we encourage you to report any bugs by creating a support case and share your improvement ideas via PowerSchool Ideas.

To help identify students that have or have not saved careers or career clusters to their favorites list, a new filter for “Has Careers” with options for Yes and No has been added to the Careers by Student report. This filter allows all students to be included in the report, regardless of whether or not they have saved careers. In addition, a similar Has Career Clusters filter has been added to the Career Cluster and Pathway by Student report.

To make the process of finding reports easier, we have re-organized Reports 3.0 into category sections so each report in a category is grouped together. PowerBuddy for College & Career Accessory Features Released

We have released staff-facing accessory features to improve control and better inform staff about student interactions within PowerBuddy for College & Career. The new features can be accessed via the Setup page from the gear icon at both the district and school levels. From the Setup page, there is a link to a new PowerBuddy page where staff can find these features. The new features include:

  • District PowerBuddy Control - Using a toggle, district personnel can make the PowerBuddy student optional feature available at all schools or not. If the toggle is enabled, staff must activate the PowerBuddy optional feature for each grade at each school. If the toggle is disabled, the optional feature is hidden, and students will not be able to access PowerBuddy.

  • Concerning Topic Emails - This new feature gives district and school staff the ability to decide which email addresses should be notified when a student message with PowerBuddy hits the content filter. Staff, on a school-by-school basis, can decide whether a student’s counselor or parents with communication enabled should also receive an email.

  • Chat Logs - This feature gives staff the ability to search for, review, and download chat logs of student conversations with PowerBuddy for College & Career. In a future release, we’ll make chat logs available in the Student Folder, and allow staff to give students access to their own chat logs.

These new features require staff to have the new Administer PowerBuddy Settings - District Level or Administer PowerBuddy Settings permission to access the new PowerBuddy pages in the Setup menu and use any of these features.

New staff customizable dashboard

Introducing a new customizable dashboard for staff. This update features a fresh, intuitive interface to help staff access critical information quickly and efficiently. This release does not include changes to the District or Teacher Desk view.

Key features of the new dashboard

Brand-new layout and UI design: Revamped user interface with a modern look and feel, tailored to streamline your daily tasks.

Opt-in and Opt-out flexibility: Staff can explore the new dashboard by clicking the “Try Now” button. You can revert to the current homepage anytime using the “Use Existing Homepage” button under More options.

Relocated quick links: Quick links have been reorganized for improved accessibility, enhancing usability and efficiency.

Demo Naviance student: The demo Naviance student section has been moved to the right side of the dashboard for better visibility and quick access.

Enhanced student search: A new Search Student feature allows staff to filter students by class year and search for specific students effortlessly.

Introducing widgets for key insights: Gain instant access to critical data points with 9 new customizable widgets, enabling a quick glance at essential information without navigating through multiple pages. Key details include:

  • Widgets can be rearranged to suit your preferences.

  • Hide or unhide widgets based on your needs.

Widget details (Default order)

  • Career exploration: Reveals the number of students with favorite careers, military branches, and clusters/pathways.

  • Self-discovery assessment: Calls out completion status across all assessments.

  • Student path: Displays student-selected primary path.

  • Application summary: Pulls application information from the Application Manager.

  • Transcript request summary: Shows information from the Transcript Request Manager.

  • Favorite reports: Lists all reports favorited in Reports 3.0.

  • Tasks: Outlines tasks with upcoming due dates from Success Planner 1.0.

  • Class snapshot: A pie chart with application data for the current senior class.

  • Student usage: Discloses the number of student logins versus no logins.

Regular data refresh for widgets Widgets update their data every 15 minutes to ensure accurate and timely insights while maintaining system performance.

Announcements The announcements section has been relocated to the right side of the dashboard for easier visibility.

Note: Data Sync Intervals: Widgets refresh every 15 minutes, so some data updates may not appear instantly.

New test score filters

  • A new filter, Has Test Scores, has been added to the Test Score Detail report in Reports 3.0 to help identify students who do or do not have test scores in Naviance.

  • A new filter, Test Type, has been added to the AP Score Detail report in Reports 3.0 allowing users to choose one or multiple AP tests to include in the report.

Block specific feature access from a new Privacy Settings page within the student folder

Naviance staff users can now block specific feature access per student from a new Privacy Settings page within the Student Folder. With this release, staff users have the option to block student access to PowerBuddy and Match powered by Concourse and enable a FERPA Block at the individual student level from one location within the Student Folder.

PowerBuddy Enhanced is now live

PowerBuddy for College and Career Enhanced is now available. For any district or school that subscribes, PowerBuddy’s new functionality improves support for students beyond PowerBuddy Core, which is free to all clients today. PowerBuddy for College and Career Enhanced has improved college guidance based on NACAC content, additional support for FAFSA, the SAT, and ACT, including links directly in responses from PowerBuddy, and gives students the ability to compare their GPA and test scores to previously accepted students. Your district also receives additional allotments to allow your students to explore without worrying about running out. If you’d like to know more about options for your district, contact your PowerSchool EIC or Account Manager.
