Login Management
Before creating user accounts, decide how staff, students, parents and guardians will log in to Naviance.
Naviance offers several login options:
Login Options | Explanation | User Type |

| Naviance ID | Direct login to Naviance with a school or district-assigned email and a staff-managed password. | Staff |
| Native Login | Direct login to Naviance Student with an email or username and a student-managed password. | Students Parents or guardians |
| Clever SSO | Single sign-on (SSO) login via Clever, if using Clever to automate the secure transfer of student or staff rosters to Naviance. | Staff Students |
| SAML SSO | SSO via Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), which permits an Identity Provider (IDP) to exchange authentication and authorization data with Naviance, a service provider (SP). | Staff Students Parents or guardians |
| Guest Access | Direct login to Naviance Student to access a limited number of features. | Guests |
After deciding the login method to use:
- Determine the data fields that you must import to support the selected login.
- Update Naviance and Naviance Student settings that support the specified login.
You must activate Naviance Student before students, parents, and guardians log in with the selected option.
