National Career Clusters Framework adoption

Naviance has adopted the modernized National Career Clusters Framework. The framework consists of 14 clusters and 72 sub-clusters, formally named pathways, designed to serve as a bridge between education and work.

The modern framework impacts both staff and student users. Details on areas of the product where changes were made to support the new framework are as follows.

Changes for staff users

Staff dashboard

    • References to pathways in the Career exploration widget updated to sub-clusters

Student folder

  • Careers subtab

    • References to pathways updated to sub-clusters

    • Legacy clusters and pathways from prior framework favorited by the student no longer have a profile to review and have legacy appended to the name

  • Self-Discovery subtab

      • Career Cluster Finder assessment results show modern framework clusters

      • References to pathways in the Career Cluster Finder report updated to sub-clusters

      • References to pathways in the AchieveWorks Skills report updated to sub-clusters if completed by the student after July 30, 2026

Success Planner 1.0

  • References to pathways updated to sub-clusters in the following built-in tasks:

    • Add career clusters to my list

  • Name and Quick Summary fields will only be updated if the default text has not been modified

Success Planner 2.0

  • References to pathways updated to sub-clusters in the following built-in tasks:

    • Identify the credentials needed for your favorite sub-clusters

    • Complete the Career Cluster Finder and then favorite your clusters or sub-clusters of interest

  • References to pathways in the completion trigger list when creating custom tasks updated to sub-clusters

Task Title and Description fields will only be updated if the default text has not been modified

Careers

  • References to pathways in the main navigation updated to sub-clusters

  • References to pathways on all profile pages updated to sub-clusters

Work-based learning

  • Existing opportunities mapped to legacy clusters and pathways have been updated to modern clusters and sub-clusters

  • Add opportunities form updated to include modern clusters and sub-clusters

Reports

  • References to pathways in the following reports have been updated to sub-clusters:

    • Career Cluster and Sub-Cluster by Student

    • Students by Career Cluster and Sub-Cluster

  • Legacy clusters and pathways from prior framework favorited by students will have legacy appended to the name

Student Readiness Report

  • References to pathways updated to sub-clusters

Careers

  • References to pathways in the main navigation updated to sub-clusters

  • References to pathways on the Explore Clusters and Sub-Clusters page updated to sub-clusters

  • References to pathways on the Favorite Careers and Clusters page updated to sub-clusters

  • References to pathways on all profile pages updated to sub-clusters

  • Filtering on the Explore Careers page updated to include modern clusters and sub-clusters

  • Legacy clusters and pathways from prior framework favorited by the student will still display on the Favorite Careers and Clusters page but will no longer have a profile to review

  • Legacy clusters and pathways from prior framework favorited by the student will have a Show similar options action that will suggest best modern framework options on the Favorite Careers and Clusters page

Game plan survey

  • Modern clusters will display in this survey moving forward

    • Legacy cluster responses will still be maintained until the survey is completed again

  • Portfolio and Resume

    • References to pathways in the Favorites entry type updated to sub-clusters

If the Career Cluster Finder assessment was added as an entry to a student’s portfolio before July 30, 2026, it will need to be removed and re-added to display the modern clusters

  • Career Cluster Finder assessment results will show modern framework clusters
