Update Display Name Structure

The Mexico localization package display name format now aligns with the Mexican naming convention.

  • The display name sequence updated from, First Name 1, First Name 2, Paternal Name, Maternal Name to Paternal Name, Maternal Name, First Name 1, First Name 2.

  • This change applies only to display screens (lists, headers, and reports generated from display views).

  • There is no impact on demographic entry screens.

Example:

  • Input: Juan Carlos Hernández López

  • Previous display: Juan Carlos Hernández López

  • Updated display: Hernández, López, Juan, Carlos

Impact:

  • Users will see names in the updated format wherever names display on screen.

  • No additional configuration is required.

Mexico

Updating the default state code abbreviation from "ME" to "MX".

The default state code abbreviation for Mexico has been corrected to prevent conflicts with the United States state code set.

  1. Updated the default Mexico state code abbreviation from ME to MX.

  2. This prevents the system from incorrectly mapping Mexico’s Mexico state to the United States state Maine (ME).

  3. The new default abbreviation "MX" eliminates incorrect mappings between Mexico and U.S. states.

PowerSchool Components

Localization version 25.9.0.0 includes enhancements for Mexico and fixes for Thailand.

To utilize these packages in Mexico, customers must ensure that PowerSchool SIS Core version 25.5.1.0 or higher is installed and contact CloudOps to request installation of the appropriate localization package along with the required SIS Core version.

The Mexico Localization package version 25.9.0.0 is automatically installed when “Mexico” is selected from the country dropdown list and “Mexico Common” is chosen from the state/province dropdown during the PowerSchool SIS Core version 25.9.0.0 installation. Customers who prefer to use only the standard PowerSchool Core version (without localization) must inform CloudOps in their request so that “Mexico” is not selected during installation.

If a customer plans to upgrade only to PS SIS Core 25.5.1.0 or higher and not to Localization 25.9.0.0 or higher, they should avoid selecting Mexico during the initial installation. If they later decide to enable localization, they can rerun the installer, select Mexico, and the appropriate localization package will be applied.

For Thailand, the Localization package version 25.9.0.0 is automatically installed when “Thailand” is selected from the country dropdown list and “Thailand Common” is chosen from the state/province dropdown during the PowerSchool SIS Core version 25.9.0.0 installation.

Customers who have already installed the Thai Localization package version 24.7.0.0 cannot selectively upgrade only to PS SIS Core version 24.9.0.0 or higher without also upgrading to the Thai Localization package version 24.9.0.0 or higher.

Customers who wish to continue using the standard PowerSchool Core without localization must inform CloudOps so that “Thailand” is not selected during installation. If a customer upgrades only to PS SIS Core 24.9.0.0 or higher and not to Localization 24.9.0.0 or higher, they should avoid selecting Thailand during the initial setup. Later, if they decide to add localization, they can rerun the installer, select Thailand, and the required localization will be installed.
