Set Up Data Management

To manage data, you must enable the related permissions for staff and students.

Staff user role permissions

Assign the following permissions to user roles so that staff can access and manage data in Naviance.

District-level staff permissions

User role permissionDescription
Export district dataExport data from Naviance for Districts.
Import district dataImport data into Naviance at the district level.

School-level staff permissions

User role permissionDescription
Export school dataExport data from Naviance.
Import school dataImport data into Naviance.
Remove imported school dataUndo data import.
Transfer student recordsInitiate and review a student transfer.

Naviance Student settings

Select the following edit permissions if you want students or parents to change their account information in Naviance Student.

Student edit permissions

PermissionDescription
Edit personal and demographic informationAdd or edit information in their account.
Edit email address

Add or edit the email address in their account.

Edit usernameChange their username.
Edit passwordUpdate their password.


Naviance does not recommend permitting students:

Parent edit permissions

PermissionDescription
Edit personal and demographic informationAdd or edit information in their account.

Add or edit the email address in their account.

Naviance does not recommend permitting parents and guardians:

  • to edit their personal and demographic information or email addresses if importing parent and guardian data via SchoolSync.
  • to edit their usernames or passwords if logging in to Naviance Student using SAML SSO.
