Set Up Data Management
To manage data, you must enable the related permissions for staff and students.
Staff User Role Permissions
Assign the following permissions to user roles so that staff can access and manage data in Naviance.
District-Level Staff Permissions

| Export district data | Export data from Naviance for Districts. |
| Import district data | Import data into Naviance at the district level. |
School-Level Staff Permissions
| User Role Permission | Description |

| Export school data | Export data from Naviance. |
| Import school data | Import data into Naviance. |
| Remove imported school data | Undo data import. |
| Transfer student records | Initiate and review a student transfer. |
Naviance Student Settings
Select the following edit permissions if you want students or parents to change their account information in Naviance Student.
Student Edit Permissions

| Edit personal and demographic information | Add or edit information in their account. |
| Edit email address | Add or edit the email address in their account. |
| Edit username | Change their username. |
| Edit password | Update their password. |
If you are importing student data via Clever, SchoolSync, or PowerSchool Data Integration, Naviance does not recommend permitting students to edit their personal and demographic information or email address.
If students are logging into Naviance Student using Clever or Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) single sign-on (SSO), Naviance does not recommend permitting students to edit their usernames or passwords.
Parent Edit Permissions

| Edit email address | Add or edit the email address in their account. |
| Edit username | Change their username. |
| Edit password | Update their password. |
If importing parent and guardian data via SchoolSync, Naviance does not recommend permitting parents and guardians to edit their personal and demographic information or email address.
If parents and guardians are logging in to Naviance Student using SAML SSO, Naviance does not recommend permitting parents and guardians to edit their usernames or passwords.
