Data Import New

Use the Data Import New feature to add:

Download supplemental test score templates from the Naviance Knowledge Base in the PowerSchool Community. Select PowerSchool Community from the Get Help menu in Naviance to access the Community.

Import Data

  1. Navigate to the gear icon, then select Setup.
  2. Choose Data Import New.
  3. From Start Data Import, choose the data type to add. Add Student Readiness Indicators is only available for select states.
  4. From Upload File:
    1. Click Choose File, locate your data file, then click Upload.
    2. Enter a File Name.
    3. Select a Data Type from the list, then download the official file format, if needed.
    4. Select the Unique Identifier from the list that indicates which data in your file should be used to identify the student.
      Naviance recommends using Student ID and last name as the unique identifier. If you are using first name, last name, and DOB as the unique identifier, ensure that the date of birth in your import file is formatted with double digits for the month and day. For example, 06/03/2006, not 6/3/2006.
    5. Indicate if the first row of your file contains column headings.
    6. Click Next.
  5. From Match Fields:
    1. Review the field matching for accuracy.
    2. If needed, display the list of options for the selected field and choose the correct match.
    3. Click Next.
  6. From Define Codes:
    1. Review the code matching for accuracy, if there are codes to define in your file.
    2. If needed, display the list of values for the selected field and choose the correct match.
    3. Click Next.
  7. Optionally, from Test/Start Import:
    1. Select or deselect Do not overwrite values in Naviance if blank in the file.
    2. Select or deselect Overwrite existing data for students in file.

    3. Select or deselect Do not overwrite fields that have already been marked as "met". This option is only available when importing Student Readiness Indicators.

      Naviance recommends completing a test import before importing the data.
    4. Click Test Import or Start Import. Your import will begin to process. To review the import progress, navigate to Data Import History.

Review Data Import History

  1. Navigate to the gear icon, then select Settings.
  2. Choose Data Import New.
  3. Select Data Import History. Completed imports will display an End Time.
    1. Review Alerts for an Import Completed with Alerts.
    2. Click More.

      1. Select View Log to access the import's details.

        1. Click Export Log to view all records and rectify the errors.
        2. Click Reupload File or Test/Start Import to import the file again.
      2. Select Undo, then click Undo Import again to reverse changes made during the import.
