Set up surveys
Complete the setup to start using the Survey Builder or Surveys New features.
Assign staff user role permissions
Districts
Assign the following permissions to district-level user roles so that staff can access surveys in Naviance.
User role permission | Description |
|---|---|
View surveys | Review student responses to surveys. |
Edit student surveys | Re-open or delete a student survey. |
Add/edit district surveys | Create and edit surveys |
View survey reports | Review survey report data. |
Schools
Assign the following permissions to school-level user roles so that staff can access surveys in Naviance.
User role permission | Description |

Select Naviance Student settings
Select the following features so students can access the Naviance-built surveys in Naviance Student.
Feature | Description |

Game Plan Survey | Enables the Game Plan Survey in the About Me section. |
Graduation Survey | Enables the Graduation Survey in the About Me section. |
Select the following student edit permissions so students can respond to graduation survey questions.
Student edit permission | Description |
|---|---|
Add active applications | Add colleges to which students have applied. |
Edit active applications | Update college application outcomes. |
Update which college the student is attending | Select the attending college. |
Add or edit scholarships awarded | Add scholarship applications and results. |
Edit transcript request settings
If administering a Graduation survey, allow students to request a final transcript for their attending college.
From Quick Links on the homepage, select Transcript Request Manager.
Choose settings.
From General Naviance Student Settings, select Display transcript request status and allow students to request transcripts and the grades for which to apply the setting.
From Request options for students on Naviance Student, select Show option to request final transcripts.
Assign success planning tasks for surveys
Assign the following built-in tasks or any custom tasks to students to track students' progress in completing surveys.
If using Naviance for Districts, edit and assign tasks at the district level to monitor and track task completion for all schools in the district.
Naviance Student does not display duplicate tasks for students.
