School Locator Element
Overview
School Locator is a form feature that returns a value for the student school based on the grade and address entered by the parent. This is useful for larger school districts that have strict zoning requirements. You can add only one School Locator element to a form. After that, the element is disabled within the element palette.
To be able to add and configure the School Locator element, the following settings must be enabled for your form:
- School Locator
- In District / Zoned School Mode
Contact PowerSchool Enrollment Support to activate the settings.
Functionality
When School Locator is enabled on a form, families completing the form will see a map displayed on the screen. The families must enter the student's grade and address information in order to run the School Locator. The family is then prompted to select a link to run the School Locator. The School Locator will attempt to verify the address and will return one of three results:
- Address is verified and within district boundaries - The School field is populated with the student's zoned school option. The form can also be configured to return a drop-down list with multiple options should there be the potential for multiple zoned schools for a particular address. Additionally, the map displays icons representing the location of the student's address and the address of the zoned school. If the family hovers the pointer over the zoned school, a tooltip displays additional information for the zoned school (for example, phone number, address, and email address).
- Address is verified, but NOT within district boundaries - The School field is populated with a value of No Zoned School Identified. Depending on the requirements of the district, the family may be instructed to submit the form or be prevented from submitting via the validator.
- Address CANNOT be verified - The School field is populated with a value of No Zoned School Identified. Customized content informs the parent their address could not be verified. Depending on the requirements of the district, the family may be instructed to submit the form or be prevented from submitting via the validator.
