Staffing Rules
Staffing Rules Overview
Staffing rules allocate a selected quantity of full-time equivalents and the associated dollar cost of those full-time equivalents.
Ratio-Based staffing allocation
These rules allocate FTEs per number of students to all selected schools (for example, give one Assistant Principal FTE to all schools for every 300 students enrolled). There are three options:
Round up: This will force the system to calculate total FTEs by school rounding up to the next whole or fractional FTE (depending upon which option the user selected). For example, with a 300:1 ratio allocating whole FTEs, a school with 301 students will result in 2 FTEs allocated.
Round down: This will force the system to calculate total FTEs by school rounding down to the next whole or fractional FTE (depending upon which option the user selected). For example, with a 300:1 ratio allocating whole FTEs, a school with 301 students will result in 1 FTE allocated.
Round nearest: This will force the system to calculate total FTEs by school rounding to the nearest whole or fractional FTE (depending upon which option the user selected). For example, with a 300:1 ratio allocating whole FTEs, a school with 301 students will result in 1 FTE allocated. Rounding calculations here follow standard math rounding rules such that 0.49 or below would be rounded down, and 0.50 or greater would be rounded up.
Last, if applicable, filter to only the schools that should be impacted by the rule using school characteristics. If you do not see the job type of interest, check your district’s job type configuration.
Subgroup Ratio-Based staffing allocation
These rules allocate FTEs per number of sub-group-eligible students to all selected schools (for example, give one GenEd Teacher FTE to all schools for every 22 first grade students enrolled). There are three options:
Round Up: This will force the system to calculate total FTEs by school rounding up to the next whole or fractional FTE (depending upon which option the user selected). For example, with a 25:1 ratio allocating whole FTEs per each first grade student enrolled, a school with 26 first grade students will result in 2 FTEs allocated.
Round Down: This will force the system to calculate total FTEs by school rounding down to the next whole or fractional FTE (depending upon which option the user selected). For example, with a 25:1 ratio allocating whole FTEs per each first grade student enrolled, a school with 26 first grade students will result in 1 FTE allocated.
Round Nearest: This will force the system to calculate total FTEs by school rounding to the nearest whole or fractional FTE (depending upon which option the user selected). For example, with a 25:1 ratio allocating whole FTEs per each first grade student enrolled, a school with 26 first grade students will result in 1 FTE allocated.
Last, if applicable, filter to only those schools that should be impacted by the rule using school characteristics. If you do not see the job type of interest, check your district’s job type configuration
