Set up work-based learning
To set up Work-Based Learning:
Assign staff user role permissions.
Select Naviance Student settings.
Add organizations.
Add contacts.
Invite external contacts.
Add opportunities.
Publish opportunities.
Assign staff user role permissions
Districts
Assign the following permissions to district-level user roles so that district staff can access Work-Based Learning in Naviance.
These permissions are assigned to the District Site Manager user role by default.
User role permission | Description |

Add/edit/cancel/delete work-based learning | Manage work-based learning opportunities in Naviance. |
View Work-Based Learning | Review work-based learning opportunities in Naviance. |
If you do not want schools in your district to create and publish school-level opportunities or to publish any shared district-level opportunities, unassign the permission to Add/edit/cancel/delete work-based learning from the school site manager user role.
Schools
Assign the following permissions to school-level user roles so school staff can access Work-Based Learning in Naviance.
These permissions are assigned to the built-in School Site Manager user role by default.

Select Naviance Student settings
Select the following grade-level features so students can access Work-Based Learning opportunities in Naviance Student.
Feature | Description |

Careers section | Enables the Careers menu, including Favorite Careers and Clusters, Explore Careers, Explore Clusters and Pathways. |
Work-based learning | Enables Work-Based Learning in the Careers menu. Activates grade-level options when creating work-based learning opportunities in Naviance. |
Add an organization
Navigate to Careers and select Work-Based Learning.
From Overview, select Add and choose Organization.
Enter the organization’s information and then click Submit.
Add a contact
Navigate to Careers and select Work-Based Learning.
From Overview, select Add and choose Contact.
Enter the contact’s information and then click Submit.
Invite an external contact
Navigate to Careers and select Work-Based Learning.
From Overview, select Add, Contact, and then choose Invite external contact.
Enter the contact’s information and then click Invite.
Add an opportunity
Navigate to Careers and select Work-Based Learning.
From Overview, select Add and choose Opportunity.
Enter the opportunity information.
Click Save. The opportunity will be saved as a draft.
Optionally, from the opportunity details page, click a category to add more details.
Publish an opportunity
If you are publishing an opportunity rather than saving it as a draft, jump to step 5.
Navigate to Opportunities in work-based learning.
Click the opportunity name.
Click Publish.
Choose with whom you want to share the opportunity and click Add.
Optionally, change the access level.
Click Publish.
