Set Up Naviance Curriculum
To set up Naviance Curriculum:
- Assign staff user role permissions.
- Select Naviance Student settings.
- Enable default lesson sequences.
Assign Staff User Role Permissions
By default, all Naviance users can:
- Access the Naviance Curriculum and grade-level lesson plans.
- Review lesson activity and progress of groups for which they are the assigned instructor.
Assign the following permissions to user roles so that staff can manage the Naviance Curriculum.

Select Naviance Student Settings
Ensure the following Naviance Student features are selected by grade level so students can complete the Naviance Curriculum lesson activities.

Enable Default Lesson Sequences
Give students access to the corresponding grade-level lesson sequences.
Naviance recommends:
- Enabling default grade-level lesson sequences to quickly give students access to Curriculum lessons.
- Assigning lesson sequences to groups for more control over student group, lesson, and instructor assignments, whether grade-level lessons sequences are enabled or not.
Districts
Select District or School Management
Choose to enable default sequences at the district or school level.
- From Quick Links on the Naviance homepage, select Naviance Curriculum.
- From Curriculum Options, select Manage Default Sequences.
Choose I want schools to manage defaults or I want the district to manage defaults.
If default sequences were managed at the school level, choosing district management overrides those settings.
- Click Save.
Determine Instructor Access to Default Sequences
If your district manages Default Sequences, you can give instructors access to default sequence groups, even when not the assigned instructor.
- From Quick Links on the Naviance homepage, select Naviance Curriculum.
- From Curriculum Options, select Manage Default Sequences.
- Click On or Off depending on the instructor access you want to give.
- Click Save.
Enable Default Sequences
Enable default grade-level lessons for all schools in your district.
- From Quick Links on the Naviance homepage, select Naviance Curriculum.
- From Curriculum Options, select Manage Default Sequences.
Click On or Off for the selected grade levels.
If you do not enable grade-level lesson sequences, you must assign curriculum to a group for students to access Curriculum lessons.- Click Save.
School
- From Quick Links on the Naviance homepage, select Naviance Curriculum.
- From Curriculum Options, select Manage Default Sequences.
Click On or Off for the selected grade levels.
If you do not enable grade-level lesson sequences, you must assign curriculum to a group for students to access Curriculum lessons.- Click Save.
Assign Lesson Sequences to Groups
Assign lesson sequences to groups when you want to:
- Give students access to lessons that are outside of their grade-level sequence.
- Give students access to only selected lessons within their grade-level sequence.
- Set up reports for instructors that only include students which they are monitoring.
To assign lesson sequences to groups, you must:
- Have the user role permission Administer Curriculum assigned to your user role.
- Create the student group in Naviance.
- From Quick Links on the Naviance homepage, select Naviance Curriculum.
- From Curriculum Options, select Assign Curriculum to a Group.
- Enter the Student Group.
- Select the grade-level sequence and individual lessons to assign.
- Enter the Instructor names.
- Click Save.
Edit Lesson Sequences Assigned to Groups
- From Quick Links on the Naviance homepage, select Naviance Curriculum.
- Choose the name of the selected Curriculum Group.
- Hover over the sequence, lesson, or instructor names and select the corresponding pencil icon.
- Update the grade-level sequence, individual lessons, or instructors, and then click the check icon.
