Naviance Insights and Insights Premium

Naviance Insights Overview

Use Naviance Insights and Insights Premium dashboards to:

  • Analyze your college outcomes by factors such as student groups, race, gender, middle school, and high school.
  • Identify which programs are working at your school or district and uncover insights to improve outcomes.
  • Simplify state and district reporting requirements.

Naviance Insights and Insights Premium include Outcomes dashboards for current students and alumni. Insights Premium also includes Analysis and Comparison dashboards and middle school access to Insights dashboards.

District

Assign the following permission to district-level user roles so that district staff can access Insights and Insights Premium in Naviance.

Assign the following permission to school-level user roles so that district staff can access Insights and Insights Premium in Naviance.

Access the Analytics menu, including Naviance Insights.

By default, dashboards display data for all students. To limit the data that counselors can review, ensure User can view data for assigned students only is selected in the staff user account.

Dashboards

Outcomes Dashboards Overview

Use the Outcomes Dashboards to:

  • Track college outcomes in an easily accessible, presentation-ready format.
  • Display year-over-year results to quickly identify college outcomes by district, high school, or middle school including:
    • Enrolled in college the first year after high school.
    • Accepted to college but has not enrolled.
    • Enrolled in college in the first year after high school and returned for the second year.
    • Completed a college degree within four years after high school graduation.
  • Provide current class year metrics so staff can spot concerning trends before students graduate including:
    • Applied to at least one college.
    • Accepted to at least one college.
    • Applied to a 4-year college.
    • Accepted to a 4-year college.

Use the Outcomes Dashboards

  1. Navigate to Analytics and select Naviance Insights.
  2. Click High School Outcomes or Alumni Outcomes.

    The Alumni Outcomes dashboards populate with data from Alumni Tracker.
  3. Review the dashlets.
  4. Optionally:
    1. Filter data.
    2. Bookmark filtered dashboards for future use.
    3. Export data.
    4. Select data points to display student names.
    5. Click Analysis for a selected dashlet to display the corresponding analysis dashboards.

      You must have an Insights Premium subscription to display Analysis and Comparison dashboards.

Analysis and Comparison Dashboards Overview

Review the Analysis and Comparison Dashboards to:

  • Deeply analyze the outcomes data.
  • Uncover factors that influence college outcomes.
  • Pinpoint success factors for informed decision-making.
  • Simplify reporting.
These premium dashboards are available as an upgrade to Naviance Insights for an additional charge.

Use the Analysis and Comparison Dashboards

  1. Navigate to Analytics and select Naviance Insights.
  2. Click High School Outcomes or Alumni Outcomes.

  3. Click Analysis for a selected dashlet to display the Analysis dashboards.
  4. Click Usage, Academics, Tests & Scores, College Apps, Demographics, or Current Seniors to display the corresponding data.
  5. Review the graph data.
  6. Optionally:
    1. Filter data.
    2. Bookmark filtered dashboards for future use.
    3. Export data.
    4. Hover over data points to display additional information.

    5. Select data points to display student names.

      In some instances, selecting a data point creates a filter. The filter is automatically applied to all trackable factors.
  7. Click the magnifying glass for a selected dashlet to display the Comparison page.

  8. Compare single-year data to data over time.

  9. Optionally:

    1. Select a grade year or ethnicity from the corresponding lists to filter the data in the single-year graph.

    2. Select additional filters to update the data in the over-time graph.
