Manage Success Planning

Respond to Students' Success Planner Activity

Review and respond to student's Success Planner activity via the:

  • Planner Dashboard
  • Student Folder

Planner Dashboard

Review the Planner Dashboard to access a list of recent Success Planning updates, including students' comments and questions or tasks assigned to you.

  1. Navigate to Planner and select Dashboard.
  2. From Recent Updates, review comments, surveys, questions, or documents related to Success Planner tasks.

    Choose an option from type and click Update Report to display only recent comments, surveys, questions, or uploaded documents.
  3. Optionally, select view/respond, see survey results, or the document name for the selected student.

    Alternatively, navigate to the student folder to review the success planner activity for a specific student.
  4. From My Tasks, review a list of tasks assigned to you.

Student Folder

Comment on a Task

  1. Navigate to the student's folder.
  2. Choose the Success Plan section and then select Tasks.
  3. From the Tasks page, select view details for the selected task.
  4. Select add comment.
  5. Enter the comment, choose sharing options, and then click Add Comment. Students receive notification of your comment in the What's New section of the Naviance Student homepage.

Comment on a Goal

  1. Navigate to the student's folder and select Success Plan.
  2. Choose the Success Plan section and then select Goals.
  3. From the Goals page, choose comment for the selected goal.
  4. Enter the comment and then click Add Comment. Students receive notification of your comment in the What's New section of the Naviance Student homepage.

Respond to a Question

When a student asks a question in Naviance Student using the Raise Hand feature and you are the assigned counselor, you receive an email and a notification on the Student Profile page of the student folder.

  1. Navigate to the student's folder.

  2. Click Student has a Success Plan Question from the Student Profile page.

  3. Alternatively, select the Success Plan section to access the question.

  4. From the Status column, select question.

  5. Enter your response and click Mark as Resolved. Students receive notification of your response in the What's New section of the Naviance Student homepage.

Upload a Document

  1. Navigate to the student's folder and select Success Plan.
  2. Choose the Success Plan section and then select Tasks.
  3. From the Tasks page, select view details for the selected task.
  4. Select upload file.
  5. Enter a Description, choose the file, choose to hide from student or parent, and then select Upload File.
Schools can upload 30GB total of files. Files must be 10MB or less.

Delete a Document

  1. Navigate to the student's folder and select Success Plan.
  2. Choose the Success Plan section and then select Tasks.
  3. From the Tasks page, select view details for the selected task.
  4. From Recent Updates, locate the document to remove and click the delete icon.

Update Task Status

Mark a Task Complete for a Student

  1. Navigate to the student's folder and select Success Plan.
  2. From the Tasks page, select view details for the selected task.
  3. Select Mark Complete.
  4. Select the Success Level and then click Mark Complete.

Waive a Task for a Student

  1. Navigate to the student's folder and select Success Plan.
  2. From the Tasks page, select Waive for the selected task.
  3. Enter a reason and then click Wavie Task. The task displays Completed (Waived).

Unassign a Task or Program for a Student

  1. Navigate to the student's folder and select Success Plan.
  2. From the Tasks page, select Remove for the selected task and then click Delete Task.
  3. From the Program page, select Remove for the selected program and then click Delete Program.

Update Task Status for Multiple Students

Use the Batch Update Task Status feature to update the task status for multiple students.

  1. Navigate to Planner and select Assign and Manage.
  2. Select Batch Update Task Status.
  3. Select a Currently Assigned Task from the list, apply filters as needed, and then click Continue.
  4. Select a status from the Update Task Status to list.
  5. Click Continue to update the task status for the selected students.

Unasign a Task or Program for Multiple Students

  1. Navigate to Planner and select Assign and Manage.
  2. Select the program or task to unassign from the Success Plan Program or Success Plan Task lists and then select in program or has task.
  3. Choose the students for whom you want to unassign the task or program, and then click Continue.
  4. Choose Un-Assign Task or Un-Assign Program, select the task or program to unassign from the corresponding lists, and then click Continue.

Find Students Without a Task or Program Assigned

Naviance does not auto-assign tasks to new students. Search for new students and assign the task or program to the student.

  1. Navigate to Planner and select Assign and Manage.
  2. Select the program or task from the Success Plan Program or Success Plan Task lists and then select not in program or doesn't have task.
  3. Choose additional student attributes and then click Continue to display a list of students without the assigned task or program.
  4. Optionally, choose Assign Task or Assign Program, select the task or program to unassign from the corresponding lists, and then click Continue.
