Customize the Naviance Student homepage

Customize the Naviance Student homepage by sharing information from your school with students, parents, and guardians.

Customize welcome messages

Add a customized message.

  1. Navigate to Connections and then select Naviance Student.
  2. Select Customize Welcome Messages.
  3. Select create new message.
  4. Enter a Label.
  5. Enter message content.

    • To add an image, click Image and enter the image URL rather than an image file. You cannot insert a JPG, PNG, or another image file in a welcome message.
    • To add a video, select use plain text editor and enter the video embed code or iFrame. The message content field displays an iFrame notification. Review the welcome message in Naviance Student to ensure the video has been added correctly.
  6. Click Save.

  7. Select the grade levels for whom to display the welcome message.

    You can select one welcome message per grade.
  8. Optionally:
    • Select edit to modify the link.
    • Select delete to remove the link.
    • Select add language if you have enabled a custom content language and want to enter an alternate message in a supported language.
  9. Click Save Settings.

Add news bulletins

Add news bulletins for students and parents. Naviance Student displays these as Updates.

  1. Navigate to Connections and then select Naviance Student.
  2. Select Add News Bulletins.
  3. Select add a news bulletin.
  4. If available, select a display language if you want the new bulletin to be available when a user toggles to a particular language.
  5. Enter a Headline.
  6. Optionally, enter a Start Date, End Date, or both.
  7. Enter the Bulletin Content.

    • To add an image, click Image and enter the image URL rather than an image file. You cannot insert a JPG, PNG, or another image file in a welcome message.
    • To add a video, select use plain text editor and enter the video embed code or iFrame. The message content field displays an iFrame notification. Review the welcome message in Naviance Student to ensure the video has been added correctly.
  8. Click Save.

  9. Select the grade levels for whom to display the news bulletin.

    You can select an unlimited number of news bulletins per grade level.
  10. Optionally:
    • Select edit to modify the link.
    • Select delete to remove the link.
  11. Click Save Settings.

Add your school's logo to your Naviance Student homepage.

  1. Navigate to Connections and then select Naviance Student.
  2. Select Upload Logo.
  3. Click Choose File.
  4. Locate the file and then click Open.

    Your logo must be saved as a GIF, JPEG, or PNG file.
  5. Click Upload Logo.

Custom HTML pages

Add an unlimited number of custom pages with information about the application process at your school, guidelines for using counseling services, content from or in place of your school's counseling handbook, and more.

  1. Navigate to Connections and then select Naviance Student.
  2. Select Custom HTML Pages.
  3. Click create new custom page.
  4. Optionally, select a Display to language.
  5. Enter the page name in Edit Page Name.
  6. Enter the page content.


    • To add an image, click Image and enter the image URL rather than an image file. You cannot insert a JPG, PNG, or another image file in a welcome message.
    • To add a video, select use plain text editor and enter the video embed code or iFrame. The message content field displays an iFrame notification. Review the welcome message in Naviance Student to ensure the video has been added correctly.
  7. Click Save Changes.
  8. Select the grade levels for whom to display the news bulletin.

    You can select an unlimited number of HTML pages per grade level.
  9. Optionally:
    • Select the display order of each link.
    • Select edit to modify the link.
    • Select delete to remove the link.
  10. Click Save Settings.

Add an unlimited number of links to recommended websites, such as College Board, ACT, and more.

  1. Navigate to Connections and then select Naviance Student.
  2. Select Custom Links.
  3. Optionally, select a Display to language.
  4. Enter a Name. Naviance Student displays the name as a hyperlink.
  5. Enter the URL.
  6. Select the Grade Levels for whom you want to display the link.
  7. Click Add Link.
  8. Optionally:
    • Update the grade-level settings

      You can select an unlimited number of links per grade level.
    • Select the display order of each link.
    • Select verify to confirm the URL.
    • Select edit to modify the link.
    • Select delete to remove the link.
  9. Click Save Settings.

What's new

The What's New section populates with activity since the student's last login. To display more than three notifications, students can click Show More to review additional notifications since their last login, not exceeding two weeks.

You do not need to take action to populate the What's New section.

Naviance auto-populates the What's New section with:

  • Naviance messages from counselors and teachers.
  • Comments added to the student's tasks and goals.
  • Documents uploaded to the student's tasks and goals.
  • Updates to documents.
  • Notifications of a task being marked completed, waived, assigned, or unassigned by the school.
  • Reminders for approaching task due dates.

Multilingual content

The Multilingual Custom Content feature allows you to communicate and collaborate with non-English speaking Naviance Student users. By default, students, parents, and guardians can click the translation switcher in the main navigation bar to translate the Naviance Student platform into more than 75 languages.

The following features are not translated:

  • Naviance Curriculum lessons
  • Naviance TestPrep lessons
  • Career Key and StrengthsExplorer
  • Letters of Recommendation
  • College Resource page descriptions
  • RoadTrip Nation and videos
  • Documents uploaded by staff or students.

Resume builder instructions

Customize the resume builder instructions for students.

  1. Navigate to Connections and then select Naviance Student.
  2. Select Resume Builder Instructions.
  3. Enter custom Resume Builder Instructions or select Use Default.
  4. Click Update.
