PowerSchool SIS

PowerSchool SIS version is available as of June 30, 2021. When the installers are available for download, an announcement will be posted on PowerSchool SIS Release Notification on PowerSchool Community.

The New Experience introduced in PowerSchool SIS version is now the only interface available for the PowerSchool SIS Admin and PowerSchool SIS Teacher portals. Any customers who previously opted to disable the New Experience will automatically transition to the updated interface with the release.

Standards Provisioning and Passback with Schoology

PowerSchool SIS customers using Schoology may now provision their standards and associated grade scales into Schoology, and use those to passback assignment standards scores to PowerTeacher Pro. PowerSchool Admin - Asset Tracking Import and Export

Admins can now refer to the online help for importing and exporting assets to assist them with completing imports and exports more efficiently. Additional improvements made to streamline the data required for imports.

PowerSchool Admin - Course View for Graduation Plans

Admins can now view all courses that the student completed, including those not counted towards a graduation requirement. This feature allows admins to quickly determine if there are courses available that can be applied to another requirement.

Graduation Plan Work with Students

PowerSchool Admin - Grade Levels for Graduation Plans

Admins can now choose specific grade levels eligible for completing graduation plan requirements. In addition, administrators can exclude grades from ineligible years, ensuring that they do not count towards graduation requirements, such as grades from middle school.

PowerSchool Admin - Graduation Planner

Admins can now view a clear description explaining what satisfies a given test group or subject group. This will allow admins to quickly determine what requirements are necessary for a student to complete a given requirement.

Admins can now extend the Student Contacts screens allowing for multiple customizations at the same time, including exposing this new field for use. PowerSchool Admin - Batch School Setup

When a user selected a school under Batch School Setup, the page may not have displayed.


PowerSchool Admin - Consecutive Absence Report

When selecting a student's name from the Consecutive Absence report, the left navigation menu disappeared.


PowerSchool Admin - Contacts

When entering dates on the Contact page, the date entered may not have saved with the appropriate timezone.


PowerSchool Admin - Contact Details

When entering information in the employer field in Contact Details, the text area allowed for 4000 characters, yet the page only displayed 25 characters. We have increased the size of the text field area on the page to display more characters.


PowerSchool Admin - Data Export Manager

When exporting from a Database Extension that extends the Calendar_Day table, some attempts to sort or filter by CALENDAR_DAY.Date resulted in an error.


PowerSchool Admin - Edit District Calendar

When a user has 420 or more schools assigned to their profile, the Edit District Calendar does not show any schools.


PowerSchool Admin - Export

When using the Standard CC Export, the template label has been modified to reflect the default selection of Only schedules for enrolled students at the currently selected school.


PowerSchool Admin - Health Plugin Data Migration Tab

When accessing the Health Plugin Data Migration Tab, all tables did not display correctly in some cases.


PowerSchool Admin - Import and Export

When using the new experience mode, the Select Test page from Import and Export would get distorted.


PowerSchool Admin - Importing Photos

Multiple issues resolved for importing photos, including:

  • When importing Student or Staff photos using names, no photos would import if the names in the mapping file were not all lower case.

  • When importing Student photos by name, an Unknown Error occurred while Rendering Page.



PowerSchool Admin - Localization

When users attempted to localize the word Student on Student Field Value, it was not supported.


PowerSchool Admin - Log Entry Setup

When attempting to save the Log Entry Setup screen, a Data Validation (LDV) error occurred when one or more items were set to Hide for the sort order.


PowerSchool Admin - PowerScheduler

Multiple issues resolved for PowerScheduler, including:

  • When using the Schedule Course Enrollment report, incorrect values displayed for Unfilled Primary Requests information.

  • When a user with a security group of view only, but with the PowerScheduler > Visual Scheduler permission set to full would modify courses, an error would occur.



PowerSchool Admin - ReportWorks

When utilizing OIDC for Administrators, users may not have been able to assign login information for ReportWorks. Selecting the Launch ReportWorks link will launch ReportWorks and automatically log the users in.


PowerSchool Admin - Searching

When searching a legacy custom field from the Start page, an error would occur if the search contained a ( and/or ) character.


PowerSchool Admin - Student

When users attempted to Set or Add the results following an advanced student search, an error may have occurred.


PowerSchool Admin - Student Search Codes

Multiple issues resolved for Student Search Codes, including:

  • When searching by Student Search Codes, such as *birthday, the performance of the search codes has improved.

  • When utilizing the *birthday Student Search Code from the Start page, incorrect students are returned when searching for students born on leap day (2/29).



PowerSchool Admin - System

Multiple issues resolved for the System, including:

  • When running an AutoComm for Students, the results screen may show 0 records imported. The correct error is now shown.

  • When using AutoComm and Quick Import, performance has been improved.



PowerSchool Admin - TermID

When entering course numbers for remote/summer school for students with the summer school indicator set, invalid course TermIDs displayed.


PowerSchool Student and Parent - Bulletin

Multiple issues resolved for Bulletins, including:

  • When viewing Bulletins from the Student and Parent Portal, the popup contained large whitespace on the left-hand side.

  • When deleting Bulletins, it was possible to delete a Bulletin that did not belong to the current School.

  • When creating Bulletins, the default audience is now Admins to prevent accidentally sharing information with a public audience.

  • When creating new Bulletins, an error would occur if the text contained more than 4,000 characters.



PowerTeacher Pro - PowerTeacher Pro Gradebook

When a section title included an expression, PowerTeacher Pro Gradebook occasionally encountered a server error when launching.

PowerSchool Admin - Grad Plan Progress

When opening a requirement progress drawer with the progress drawer already open, the buttons and links within the drawer become unclickable. Therefore, you should first close the current drawer. If the issue is encountered, refresh the page to return the button and link functionality within the drawer.


Removed Features/Future Deprecation




PowerTeacher Gradebook

PowerTeacher Gradebook will be removed from PowerSchool SIS with the 22.4 release. To ensure that teachers can start using the more advanced features in PowerTeacher Pro Gradebook when you update PowerSchool SIS, make a plan to transition to PowerTeacher Pro Gradebook by the beginning of the 2022-2023 School Year.

PowerSchool Components

PowerSchool SIS is comprised of several software components, each versioned independently from one another. This allows for greater flexibility of component updates as new features and bug fixes become available. Some updates may include dependencies between components. These dependencies will be communicated and built into the component update installers to prevent PowerSchool SIS from being misconfigured.
