PowerSchool SIS

PowerSchool SIS version is available as of January 25, 2024. This release is considered a minor feature/maintenance release. When the installers are available for download, an announcement will be posted on PowerSchool SIS Release Notification on PowerSchool Community.

Starting with the PowerSchool SIS (Back to School) release, the option to turn off the Enhanced User Interface will be removed and the Enhanced UI will be the only interface available for PowerSchool SIS. Versions prior to 24.5 will still include the Classic User Interface. To learn more about the Enhanced User Interface, refer to FAQs: PowerSchool SIS Enhanced User Interface Webinar on Community.

Customizations might be affected by the Enhanced UI and may need to be adjusted. Technical Contacts can find Developer resources on the PowerSchool Developer site.

The PowerScheduler Build Server Engine is available for all your scheduling build needs. This engine will run on the PowerSchool SIS instance, allowing Schedulers to build their schedule from anywhere. To access this feature, enable the Engine Builder - Enable Server-Side Engine option on the Scheduling Preferences page for each school.

Direct Database Access is a system administrator page, similar to Direct Database Export but with the ability to modify data, that has never been available through navigation links in the user interface. The Direct Database Access page has been added to the Enhanced User Interface navigation in System Management, Data, Direct Database Access (DDA). All DDA sub-pages will contain a breadcrumb back to the main DDA page, similar to the sub-pages in Direct Database Export (DDE).

As a security precaution, all security group permissions to DDA will be reset to No Access whether the Enhanced User Interface is enabled or not.

To reinstate access for the appropriate people, security settings for the DDA page can be updated by security group, or for all groups at once using the new page (Configure Page Permissions for All Groups) when the Enhanced UI is enabled.

The following enhancements to the application have been made:

  • The ~(decode DAT has been improved to support an [orig] result value. This can be used to prevent re-rendering of DAT tags that may be processor-intensive.

    • Example: ~(decode;~(*ADAADM;8/21/2023;12/21/2023;format=##0);100;Perfect;[orig])

  • Standards object now supports a label. This aligns the Standards object with other Object Report objects.

  • The Student Fees page has been updated to include a Due Date column.

  • A Fees / Fee Balances category has been added to Enterprise Reports.

  • Grade levels on the Enrollment History screen now support grade level translations.

Fee Transactions

The Initial Student Screen dropdown on the Manage Profile screen has been updated to reflect the Student menu options where possible. This change is specific to the Enhanced UI.

Student and Staff

Student and Staff names within the carousel can now be highlighted for copying and pasting. The names can be copied alone, or along with the identifying information below. This change is specific to the Enhanced UI.

PowerTeacher Pro

Teachers can choose to add the same comment to multiple students for final grades. This works on the Comment Verification and Standards Final Grades Pages. Teachers can watch a tutorial on the What’s New page in the PowerTeacher Pro help menu.
