User Roles

A new screen has been added to show the Teachers and School Staff assigned to a given User Role for the currently selected school. The screen includes the Teachers and School Staff First and Last names as well as the Teacher Number. This screen is visible on User Access within Roles Administration.

For consistency in the application, we have also changed the ID label on New Staff and Staff Information screens to reflect the correct label of Teacher Number.

Resolved Issues

Product Area

When attempting to edit a Scheduled System Template an error may occur.

Grade Setup Preferences

A loading error occurred on the Grade Setup Preferences page if several courses existed.

Health Management

The date sorting has been fixed on the Screenings tab, within the student Health screens. The dates now sort correctly for both descending and ascending options.

Identity Provider Global ID

When a user account with an Identity Provider Global ID is deleted, the PCAS_Account record becomes orphaned, and Identify Provider Global ID can become unusable.

When using an Import Template, Quick Import or AutoComm, a blank screen is returned instead of the proper error messages in some cases.

When using Import Templates, Quick Import or AutoComm, a new Student could be imported into an invalid school, such as District Office. When importing new students the schoolid is now validated.

When navigating to Grade-Specific Requirement for Course Requests in PowerScheduler, HTML code was displayed instead of the Delete button.

PowerTeacher - Recommendations

When the Period Number is different than the Abbreviation name in the Periods setup, the Teacher Recommendations within PowerTeacher Portal displayed the Period Number instead of the Abbreviation. All other locations in PowerSchool SIS display the Abbreviation.

PowerTeacher Pro - Assignment List

For teachers with numerous classes, loading the Assignments List for these teachers would take an extended period of time in some cases.

PowerTeacher Pro - Auto-Calculate Assignment Standards Scores

Previously, when using the Collected Only score type and Auto-Calculate Assignment Standards Scores options in a particular order, all Standards Scores for individual assignments were erased if the teacher recalculated the Final Grades using the Advanced Option.

To resolve this, teachers cannot select Auto-Calculate Assignment Standards Scores if an assignment has the Collected Only score type.

PowerTeacher Pro - Email

When teachers with numerous classes attempt to send Emails, it would take an extended period of time in some cases.

PowerTeacher Pro - Missing Assignment Report

When running the Missing Assignment report, students who were not attached to an assignment were included in the report in some cases.

When printing using a Firefox browser, extra white space was appearing at the top of the printout.

When running the Class Attendance Audit report, the include Vocational Classes Only option is ignored.

When using SAML as Identity Provider (IdP), users may be unable to login into PowerSchool SIS if the IdP has a long assertion lifespan, which is common when using Microsoft Azure SAML. An example of such an issue is students that are unable to log into the public portal or PowerSchool mobile app after answering Yes to the Stay Signed In dialog when using Microsoft SAML.

As part of this release two advanced options have been exposed on the SAML Service Provider configuration page:

  • forceAuth - This setting should be enabled if your SAML IdP supports forceAuth and has a long assertion lifespan. When enabled PowerSchool SIS will force re-authentication against the SAML IdP if the SAML assertion is no longer valid.

  • Assertion Subject NameIdentifier - By default PowerSchool SIS uses the authenticationId attribute from the SAML response to access the state-id or psguid value. This setting allows customers to change the attribute PowerSchool SIS evaluates from the SAML Response.

When this value is blank authenticationId is used.

Student Bell Schedule

The shading on the Student Bell Schedule and Enter Attendance pages was inconsistent.

PowerSchool SIS (OLTP) may still use more CPU than expected, impacting performance even after upgrading to PowerSchool SIS in some cases. This addresses additional issues not resolved in the PowerSchool SIS release.

After upgrading to PowerSchool, the PowerSchool Monitor may show a certificate error.

Transfer Information

When editing a previous enrollment record on Transfer Information and submitting the changes, the current enrollment record displayed zeros for values in the Entry Date/Code, Exit Date/Code, and Grade fields, and the Entry Comment was blank until the page was refreshed.

Universal Rostering

The type attribute was returning different values in terms and academic sessions endpoint for the same sourcedId, causing an HTTP 400 error.

Universal Rostering

When a large district accessed the OneRoster API Organization endpoint, they received an ORA-01489 error.

Known Issues

User Roles

In the new Users with Role drawer, the filter does not work correctly at the District Office for the District column only.

Health Management

The date sorting on the Office Visits tab and the Daily Log, within the student Health screens does not work as expected.

Removed Features/Future Deprecation

PowerTeacher Gradebook

PowerTeacher Gradebook will be removed from PowerSchool SIS with the Back-to-School release (Spring 2022). To ensure that teachers can start using the more advanced features in PowerTeacher Pro Gradebook when you update PowerSchool SIS, make a plan to transition to PowerTeacher Pro Gradebook by the beginning of the 2022-2023 School Year.

Moving to PowerTeacher Pro Gradebook

PowerSchool Components

PowerSchool SIS is comprised of several software components, each versioned independently from one another. This allows for greater flexibility of component updates as new features and bug fixes become available. Some updates may include dependencies between components. These dependencies will be communicated and built into the component update installers to prevent PowerSchool SIS from being misconfigured. The following table identifies the version number for each PowerSchool SIS component in this release compared to the previous release:
