Naviance Test Prep Quick Guide.pdf

Naviance Test Prep incorporates lessons, flashcards, practice questions, and tests to assess your strengths and areas for improvement and to determine your skill profile. These results and the test date create a personalized study plan that guides you through the course.

Access Test Prep Courses

Select Planner and choose Test Prep. A new browser tab or window displays your Test Prep course.

If you have more than one Naviance Test Prep course, select the course from the drop-down list in the navigation toolbar.

Choose and Edit Test Dates

When logging in to Naviance Test Prep for the first time, you must choose your test date. According to the test date, Naviance creates a custom Study Plan that guides you through the course efficiently and ensures you cover all the material by your test date.

  1. Select Planner and choose Test Prep.

  2. Choose your test or end date from the calendar and click Update. Naviance creates a study plan based on your time frame with an appropriate amount of content to cover each day.

Review the Dashboard

Review the Test Prep Dashboard for an overview of your individualized study plan, including your personal progress and performance information.

From the dashboard, review your:

  • Performance over time

  • Strengths and weaknesses

  • Student status

  • Top game scores

  • Achievements

Click Get Started from the dashboard to launch the lesson. Depending on the course, you may be asked to take a diagnostic test so Test Prep can analyze your strengths and areas for improvement.

Achievements

Unlock achievements when you reach milestones, such as answering a question correctly within ten seconds, creating 50 bookmarks, or replying to a public discussion.

Review Messages

Review Messages and Notifications for:

  • In-app messages

  • Activity in a followed discussion topic

  • Unlocked achievements

To change message notification settings, click the message icon in the navigation toolbar and then select Settings.

Manage Study Plans

Use the Study Plan to cover the course material in the most efficient way possible. Study plans are made up of individual study tasks, which include lessons, flashcards, practice questions, or tests. Each study task is worth Knowledge Points according to the task length, difficulty, and importance. Daily Knowledge Goals display the number of points you need to complete each day to finish the course on time. The study plan automatically readjusts if you miss a day or complete more than the daily goal.

  1. Select Planner and choose Test Prep.

  2. Click Study Task to begin working through your daily knowledge goals.

Study Plan Types

Plan Type

Description

Structured

Follow the structured plan to complete all course content in the prescribed order.

Adaptive

Follow the adaptive plan for a personalized learning path. You must complete the adaptative assessment to prioritize knowledge sets according to your strengths and weaknesses. After you achieve mastery in your highest priority knowledge set, you can move to the next stage.

Adaptive plans are not available for AP Test Prep courses.

Custom

Follow a custom plan to complete a specific set of study tasks assigned by your instructor.

If you are assigned a Custom Study Plan, the Study Plan section displays a Custom Study Plan tab.

Switch Study Plans

  1. Select Planner and choose Test Prep.

  2. From the navigation menu, click Study Plan.

  3. Select Structured Plan or Adaptive Plan to change your plan and transfer your progress to the new plan.

Access a Custom Study Plan

  1. Select Planner and choose Test Prep. From the navigation menu, click Study Plan.

  2. Click Custom Study Plan to view assigned study tasks.

Use the Game Center

Use the Game Center options to help you learn the flashcard content faster and improve your memory retention.

  1. Select Planner and choose Test Prep.

  2. From the navigation menu, click Game Center.

  3. Click Start Playing for the game you wish to play.

Manage Discussions

If you are invited by a staff member to participate in a private or group discussion, you will receive notifications in the Messages and Notifications section of Test Prep.

Participate in a Discussion Group

  1. Select Planner and choose Test Prep.

  2. From the navigation menu, click Discussion.

  3. Click Join for the selected discussion.

  4. Enter your response in What do you want to discuss? and then click Submit.

Leave a Discussion Group

  1. Select Planner and choose Test Prep.

  2. From the navigation menu, click Discussion.

  3. Select the discussion name.

  4. Click Leave.

Review Lessons

  1. Select Planner and choose Test Prep.

  2. From the navigation menu, click Lessons.

  3. Select the lesson name to review the lesson content.

  4. Optionally, click the volume icon to listen to the lesson content.

  5. Choose an option from Rate Your Confidence and then click Continue.

  6. Optionally, select Confidence Levels from the Lessons section to display a list of all confidence levels related to lessons.

Take Notes

As you review lesson content, take notes in Test Prep to review when preparing for the test.

  1. Select Planner and choose Test Prep.

  2. From the navigation menu, click Lessons.

  3. Select the lesson name to review the lesson content.

  4. Click the pencil icon.

  5. Enter your notes and click Add.

  6. Optionally, select Notes from the Lessons section to display a list of all lesson notes.

Bookmark Lessons

Bookmark lessons to keep track of information to review.

  1. Select Planner and choose Test Prep.

  2. From the navigation menu, click Lessons.

  3. Select the lesson name to review the lesson content.

  4. Click the bookmark icon.

    To find previously bookmarked lessons, select Bookmarks from the Lessons section.

    • Select the lesson title to return to the lesson content.

    • Click the eye icon to preview the lesson.

    • Click the trash icon to delete the bookmarked lesson.

Use Flashcards

Use flashcards to review key terms and concepts for the test.

  1. Select Planner and choose Test Prep.

  2. From the navigation menu, click Flashcards.

  3. Choose from two presentation modes:

    • Adaptive Mode to display low-confidence items more frequently.

    • Shuffle Mode to randomly display all cards.

  4. Select a view mode:

    • Study

      1. Display side 1 of a flashcard and then click the flashcard to flip to side 2.

      2. Indicate if you responded correctly to display the next card.

        Use the Filter option to change the Category or the level of Correctness and click Update.

    • List

      1. Display sides 1 and 2 of the flashcards side by side.

      2. Click Print to download a PDF file of the list.

Practice the Concepts

Use Practice Questions to test your knowledge of specific categories and concepts.

  • Complete as many or as few questions at a time.

  • Select to review questions after answering them or at the end of a session.

  • Reset practice questions to try them again.

The total amount of time spent on each question and each practice category is counted as you go.

  1. Select Planner and choose Test Prep.

  2. From the navigation menu, click Practice.

  3. From the Practice Dashboard, select a category name.

  4. Click Practice Category or Resume Practice.

  5. Read the question and select your answer.

  6. Click Confirm.

  7. Review the correct answer at the end of the page, if available.

  8. Optionally, select Learn more about this topic to be directed to the related lesson.

  9. Click Continue to advance to the next question.

  10. Click Done practicing when finished.

Review Practice Questions

  1. Select Planner and choose Test Prep.

  2. From the navigation menu, click Practice.

  3. From the Practice Dashboard, select the Category Name.

    1. Select Review All to revisit each completed question one by one.

    2. Select Review to revisit a specific question.

  4. From Review mode:

    • Select your Confidence Level for each practice question.

    • Reread the solution.

    • Review the solution audio.

    • Bookmark the practice question.

    • Take notes.

      To review a complete list of confidence Levels, Notes, and Bookmarks, select an option from the Practice section.

Reports

Reports are available for all complete practice sessions.

  1. Select Planner and choose Test Prep.

  2. From the navigation menu, click Practice.

  3. Click Reports to view response trends and information about recent sessions.

Reset Practice Questions

Reset practice questions to answer them multiple times.

  1. Select Planner and choose Test Prep.

  2. From the navigation menu, click Practice.

  3. From the Practice Dashboard, select the Category Name and then click Reset Category.

  4. Alternatively, select Reset All Questions.

Take a Test

Use the Tests section to simulate a real test experience. Full-length exams are broken down into sections and breaks that mock the real-life exam. Allow enough time to complete the entire exam without having to pause it.

  1. Select Planner and choose Test Prep.

  2. From the navigation menu, click Tests.

  3. Select the test name.

  4. Click Start Test or Resume Test.

  5. If starting the test for the first time, review the Test Overview and Instructions and then click Start Test.

  6. Review the questions, select a response, and then click Confirm.

  7. Optionally, click Pause to stop the practice test. The amount of time you spend on each section and the total amount of time spent on the test is calculated as you go.

  8. Click Review and Finalize after you have answered all section questions.

  9. Confirm you have completed the section, indicate you have reviewed your answers and are ready to submit, and then click Submit Answers.

Reset

Reset tests so you can retake them.

  1. Select Planner and choose Test Prep.

  2. From the navigation menu, click Tests.

  3. Select the Test Name and then click Reset Test.

  4. Alternatively, click Reset All Tests.
